A line of open doorways in a sunlit courtyard, each one framing the next

The ticket is easy. It’s the missing context that takes the time.

Requests bounce between inboxes, tickets, Teams chats and the person who “knows how this works”. Give the desk a reliable route from incoming request to the right human response.

From request to resolution, as one managed process.

Through McLeans IT, before Boring Future, Keiaan designed and implemented a complete IT service-management system for KTC Edibles, a major UK food business: the ticketing journey redesigned from request through triage, handling and follow-up to resolution, with service-level tracking, notifications, routing and reporting automated.

A better queue is useful. A better service is the point.

  • Unclear ownership. A ticket arrives without the right category, assignment or next step.
  • Hidden commitments. SLAs and approvals are tracked in somebody’s head or spreadsheet.
  • Repeat questions. Useful context gets buried in conversations and old tickets.

A request should know where it goes.

Example service-management journey

  2. Route and validateCategory, owner, priority and SLA
  3. Person resolvesA personDiagnose, approve and communicate
  4. Close with evidenceOutcome, updates and audit trail

Where it helps

Three things that slow a desk down.

  • Triage and routing

Tickets read, categorised, prioritised and routed, with duplicates linked and the requester’s history attached.

  • Service levels that slip quietly

Breaches spotted and escalated before they happen, not reported afterwards.

  • Knowledge that goes stale

Answers drafted from resolved tickets for an engineer to approve, so the next person finds them.

What we take on

  • Ticket triage, categorisation and routing
  • Service-level tracking, notifications and escalation
  • Context assembled from previous tickets, assets and users
  • Self-service answers and agents for common requests
  • Service reporting, refreshed automatically
  • Integrations between your ITSM tool, Microsoft 365 and other systems
  • Request portals and approval journeys
  • Knowledge handovers drafted from resolved tickets

A ticket that arrives already understood.

Illustrative architecture — the shape, not a fixed design

What you already run

  • Service desk tool
  • Email and Teams
  • Asset and user records

What carries the work

  • Copilot Studio answers the repeat questions
  • Power Automate triage, routing and the chase
  • Prepared context history gathered before a person opens it
  • Escalation the hard ones, to a person, intact

What stays with people

  • The difficult conversation
  • Anything contractual
  • Deciding what is actually wrong

  • Copilot Studio

What stays with your team

  • Diagnosis and fixes
  • Priorities and major incidents
  • The conversation with the person who’s stuck

AI prepares. People decide. Routine actions run only within limits you agree.

What stays as it is

  • We don’t swap your ITSM platform for the sake of it. Most of the gain is in the work around it.
  • Routine requests can run on their own within agreed limits. Major incidents need people.

Founder experience · earlier independent engagement

Request → resolution

Completed earlier independent implementation, through McLeans IT; no quantified performance outcome claimed.

A multi-team IT service desk, built around the full ticket journey.

The problem
KTC Edibles, a major UK food business, needed a consistent way to manage incoming IT requests and service commitments across multiple internal teams.
What was built
Designed and implemented a Jira-based IT service-management setup covering request intake, assignment, notifications, SLA tracking, escalation and reporting.
What changed
The organisation received a managed, end-to-end ticketing journey. No measured response-time or cost improvement is asserted.

Questions. Anything else, just ask.

Ask us directly
Which service desk tools do you work with?

Platforms with APIs or connectors, and the Microsoft 365 tools around them. Keiaan’s background is in service desks and ITSM builds; we’ll check yours in the free conversation.

Will AI close tickets for us?

Only for narrowly defined, low-risk cases you authorise. Most of the value is in triage and preparation; the difficult or sensitive work goes to a person.

Was KTC Edibles a Boring Future client?

No. That build was delivered through McLeans IT, before Boring Future. It’s experience, not a client endorsement.

Where would we start?

With one part of the ticket journey, usually triage or a recurring request type, in a free 30-to-45-minute conversation.

Can you work with Jira Service Management?

Yes. Our founder has personally designed and implemented a multi-team Jira ITSM environment.

Do we need to replace our existing ITSM?

No. First we assess whether your current platform can support the improved process.
